How did you choose your current career? Are you happy with the career you have chosen?
What advice would you give to someone seeking a new career?

My first career chose me. I had been interested in electronic and mechanical things. My hobby was electronics during the time I was at school. I had already manufactured and sold lighting control equipment. I also earned rental income from equipment that I had built for myself. When I had finished going to school, I looked for a business where I could do more of the electronics work I enjoyed. I went there and started working immediately that morning. I enjoyed fitting plugs to the ends of Necchi sewing machine power leads, and much to the embarrassment of the the person who previously did that work, I finished off all the power leads within a week. I felt very excited as I could see many more interesting activities that I could be asked to do after completing that first task. I had been in very interesting jobs since then until I started working for money. Up till then, I was working because I enjoyed the work. The paymasters often hated me because I neglected to leave the workshop to collect my pay. Those pay packets would just keep collecting in the paymaster's safe until he felt compelled to bring them to me. (We were paid in cash back then.) There have been times since then that I have done work that I love. I remember driving taxi cabs in Brisbane for a few months. I looked forward to each shift. I enjoyed being with all sorts of people, and have many interesting stories to tell. However I averaged less than 10 dollars per hour driving a cab, and I went back to electronics work because it paid more money. I have continued to be short of money ever since I have worked for money. I sold my freedom by borrowing. Credit cards, bank loans, rent arrears. Continuing to work for money has cost me dearly. It has also taught me some lessons.

Over the past few weeks I have been doing many things that I really enjoy, however I have not yet created a significant income. I keep wondering "is it something about my consciousness that is stopping me from creating enough income and what can I do about it?" I would love to be paid for doing counselling and coaching, as I love doing both of these but am not currently being paid any money for that. If I were paid, I could afford to do more.

This is a really interesting perspective. Debt can really enslave people.

Hi Peter,
"is it something about my consciousness that is stopping me from creating enough income and what can I do about it?"
I think this is a great question to ask yourself! And by asking this question you are on your way to discovering the answers!
Have you explored all your beliefs in relation to money/wealth/income? A great exercise that people find useful to "unblock" themselves from creating the income/abundance they desire includes completing the following sentences and writing down as many answers as possible (probably about half a page each). This can reveal some of the "hidden" blockages to creating income.
Money is... Earning an income is... Wealth is... Abundance is... People with money are... / Wealth people are...
Also... our Self Coaching Programme on Finance will cover this in more detail (coming soon)!!!

Hi Peter,
"is it something about my consciousness that is stopping me from creating enough income and what can I do about it?"
My perspective on this is yes...our consciousness...or rather our unconscious beliefs...drive our results in life.
So the statements that Renee have offered to you to complete are a great place to start you thinking about what isn't allowing you to have abundance in your life right now?
